PROGRAM BASICS

What is Fit Leaders?

Fit Leaders is a 12-week youth fitness & leadership program designed for Black girls ages 10–17.
We combine physical fitness, leadership training, self-worth development, emotional wellness, mentorship, and academic support to build strong, confident, unstoppable young leaders.

Who can join the program?

Fit Leaders is created for girls ages 10–19, with a focus on elevating the health and leadership outcomes of Black girls who experience the highest rates of obesity, stress, hypertension, and social pressures.

Is this only a fitness program?

No — fitness is just the foundation.
Fit Leaders is a leadership organization that uses fitness, movement, and team challenges to teach discipline, confidence, teamwork, emotional regulation, and positive identity development.

How long is the program?

We also offer:

HEALTH & SAFETY

Why is Fit Leaders focused on Black girls specifically?

Because the statistics demand early intervention:

  • Black girls (12–19) have the highest obesity rate in the U.S. (CDC)
  • Black women have the highest rates of hypertension, diabetes, and stroke, starting as early as adolescence
  • Stress, anxiety, depression, and body image struggles impact Black girls at higher levels than any other group
  • Chronic stress lowers academic performance and increases emotional challenges

Fit Leaders exists to interrupt these patterns early and build healthier futures.

Do girls need to be athletic to join?
